Above I made a picture for a friend of mine who owns http://www.r-guardians.com/ . I attempted to do the metal button tutorial at http://phong.com/tutorials/metal/ , but I messed up somewhere so it didn't turn out too pleasing. Eventually I just added lighting effects and
went into the blending options for the text. There I used a drop shadow , inner and outer glow, bevel and emboss, and
possibly some other things I may be forgetting. I changed the color of the lighting effects to go with the text more
to make it appear better. Overall, it didn't turn out too bad... it only took about a frustrating 30 minutes.
Due to me trying to make it appear better looking. If you find that you get stuck on a tutorial.. try looking at other
websites that have the same tutorials only written by different people, because they usually have different steps that do
the same thing or they are worded differently which might help you understand what to do. Normally, it won't take 30
minutes to make artwork. It might even take days, but these tutorials are usually short and easy to do.
Above I did the glass filter tutorial at http://phong.com/tutorials/glass/ . It looks really really nice on his webpage, but when I attempted to do it.. I found out that it really is important
to pick a large bold text for this. Also, cutting out the text and adding light effects and other effects to it may
also look ALOT better than just leaving it with the background like I did in the picture above. Check out the tutorial
to see the pictures Phong made using the letters PH. It looks really sweet.
Above I made a picture for a 'clan' via request which uses mosiac tiles and some nice lighting effects ontop of the stone
looking background I made using the Stone Textures tutorial at http://www.phong.com/tutorials/newstone/ . I forget what I did to make the text appear that it was imprinted into the stone but it shouldn't be anything
tricky. Just experiment like I have done.
This is probably one of the best pictures I've seen on phong.com. Out of all the other brilliant ones there I love
this one. I definatly must recommend everyone to check out http://www.phong.com/ and see all of the work there. This is not one of my pictures. This is Copyright © 2003 Anson Vogt .
